Troop 93 was the first Boy Scout Troop organized in Franklin Square. The Troop was established in 1924 and was sponsored by Ascension Lutheran Church.  The Troop’s first meeting hall was the Munson Fire House. In 1926, meetings were transferred to the basement of the new Ascension Lutheran Church on Courthouse Road.

The first Scoutmaster of Troop 93 was Mr. Garner.  He was aided by Assistant Scoutmasters Hugh McKenna, August Weidner, Jr. and Paul Kelm. Some of the original scouts included Harrison Quinn, John Ankelman, Leo Schroeder, George Graulich, August Weidner, Jr., Paul Kelm, Victor Olsen, John Castoldi and Carl Castoldi. In December 1930, there were a total of 30 scouts on the troop’s roster.

Since 1924, additional Boy Scout Troops have been organized in Franklin Square.  Over the years thousands of local boys have benefited from scouting.
